Venn Diagram Problems: Complete Guide with Solved Examples
Venn diagram questions carry 1-2 marks and are simple once you understand the visual logic.
Two-Circle Venn Diagrams
If sets overlap: Some members belong to both. If one circle is inside another: All members of inner set belong to outer set. If circles don't touch: No common members.
Three-Circle Problems
For three overlapping circles (A, B, C): The center region = members in all three sets. Regions between two circles = members in exactly those two sets. Outer regions = members in only that set.
Common Question Types
Representational: "Which diagram represents Teacher, Student, Human?" Answer: Two separate circles inside a larger one (all are human). Numerical: "In a class of 100, 60 play cricket, 50 play football, 30 play both. How many play neither?" Answer: 100 - (60+50-30) = 20.
